"A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie." ~Tenneva Jordan
"When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child." ~Sophia Loren, Women and Beauty
Mother's Day is celebrated in 46 nations around the globe. In most nations, mothers are honoured on the second Sunday in May. So, you have plenty of time to put together a well thought out show of affection for dear Mum.
Everybody's Mum is unique but they all have a few things in common. Firstly, the gift they want the most is the pleasure of your company. Hard to believe isn't it? But, that's number one on their list, unless, of course you have children. Then, your presence just might sink a few notches on the priority list, but we all agree that's understandable.
If you are unable to visit, take a minute to think through your Mother's Day gift. The next best thing to your presence is probably a photo of some special family event, especially in a nicely frame, engraved with a proclamation of your affection.
Mums seem to like sweets, chocolates and such, and of course flowers always say "I love you" but this year it seems personalised gifts are the way to go. Perhaps, they seem less frivolous and more connected. How about a locket with a never to be forgotten photo?
Lately, special days have become popular. You can always spoil Mum with a day at the spa, a massage or a beauty appointment, perhaps even a pedicure. They may not be permanent remembrances but they won't be easily forgotten. And, best of all, you get the chance to spoil your Mum just a bit.
Family dinners are always fun, but the promise of a family vacation might be even more exciting. What's most important is to remember this is your chance to say a sincere, "thank you, Mum," and show that you are the angel she always knew you were.
