Wedding Photo Tips from Hallmark Designers
There's nothing like a photo card to capture and convey the beauty, joy and fun of a wedding. Your wedding card or invitation can be formal or casual, depending on your style. Here are some classic approaches for getting just the right shot to add to your photo card:
- It's hard to beat a photo of the radiant couple cheek to cheek, gazing into each other's eyes, or kissing. For wedding announcements these photos can come from your wedding or reception. For invitations, they can be formally posed portraits or shots from other events, either candid or formal.
- For wedding announcements, show photos of the two of you side by side in full wedding attire. Or get an action shot of you holding hands, kissing, or the "carrying across the threshold" moment. For invitations, use a more formally posed portrait.
- For wedding announcements, use a location shot from your honeymoon...lazing about on the beach, climbing a mountain, wherever. Or use your favorite photo from the reception, such as your first dance or the bouquet toss.
- Put a little whimsy into it. Pose the bride holding a sign with the word "I" and the groom holding a sign with the word "Do." The words "True Love" work, too.
For adding photos to wedding party plates, try these ideas:
- fizzing champagne flutes or, if available ahead of time, a shot of the wedding cake.
- the photo of the bride's bouquet or cake topper.
- a pose of the happy couple-to-be at a restaurant or family meal.
As in all such matters, when in doubt let your own sense of style and fun be your guide. You'll know what the right approach is for you.
